Cylinder #1 Not Running - Got Spark/Fuel/Timing - Pull Plug Up And Its Perfect? Why?
Car is a d16a6 obd0 brand new engine with some internal work done to it
I thought it just sounded choppy at idle but when I drove it yesterday it sounded like a bike
Well just now I pulled the spark plugs one by one and 2-4 almost cause the engine to stall out and die, pulled the #1 plug and nothing happened
<FONT SIZE="20">BUT</FONT>
When I was slipping it back in I heard the engine noise grow, clicked it into place and it went back to stutterring
So I pulled it back out a bit, maybe 3/4" and the cylinder starts firing!!!
WTF
So I put in a set of known good magencore wires and it did the same thing, you cna pull it out a bit and the motor sounds mint, sounds perfect, plug it into place and the cylinder stops firing, for 2 sets of wires
WTF would cause this?
I'll post a video in a second

did you try a new set of plugs? maybe there is some resistance in the top of the spark plug.

well, when you get a chance you can do that and see if it helps.

i had that same problem in cyl # 1... i would pull the plug out a tiny bit and the cyc would fire... my blaster coil actually went bad and for some reason when i replaced it the problem disappeared.... which makes no sence because its pre dizzy and shouldve affected all cyc... dont ask me why but it worked...

For reference, I changed all four spark plugs and gapped them properly and cleaned of my spark plug wire grommets (underside of valve cover) and the problem cleared right up ran mint
