Is yours damaged? Why do you need to install another one?
To remove it you have to stretch the boot towards the tranny revealing the C-clip and push pin that holds the shift linkage to the shift rod. You then have to remove the c-clip and push pin so you can detach the linkage from the shift rod. after that you can pull the boot off of the tranny and replace it.
To install repeat in opposite direction.

lucky for you i just had to fandanlge with mine yesterday since i put in a new clutch. first just cut the old 1 off if your trying to get rid of it. there is a c clip and a spring pin int he middle that holds the linkag together. just remove the clip and you need a punch and a hamer and punhch the pin out. now just slide the new 1 over and punch the clip back in, and put the c clip back on and just pull the boot over. getting it over the c clip isnt difficult, but i didnt have much of a hold on the boot, so i just used a flat head and it came on just fine. good luck. shouldnt take more then 10 minutes

yes it is a bitch, what i did was use a 1/4" extenstion to punch out the pin with a hammer. If you dont have the right tools go do your self a favor and invest in the right ones (punch set and hammer)...it will make your life a whole lot easier
