Default Install on a shift fork

i did a search and found some usefull info, but nothing on how to install it, like how hard is it, im somewhat expierenced and my best friend is reall good with cars, could we install it in his drivway, if so does anybody have tricks to make it go smoother, or any install tips whould be helpfull

is this in the tranny and goes on the throw out bearing?

Shift linkage?

Shifter?

to tell you the truth im not exactly sure where its at, from what im told its inside the trans, and controls pushing in a pulling out of the gear, and iv been told thats what my problem is, see sometims when i shift into second and let of the gas it pushes it out of gear it doesnt grind just pushes into neutral

Could be a bent shift fork. How old is the tranny fluid and what type?

Changing just the shift fork would be very labor intensive. Since you have to drop the tranny, you might want to consider changing the throwout bearing, clutch and flywheel.

Maybe even rebuild your tranny.

i was goin to install a new clutch and throw out bearing and resurface the flywheel anyway, i know i gotta drop the tranny and crack the case, im just not sure what iv got to take off or out to get to the shift fork, im fine with dropping the tranny and cracking it open

you have to go threw all that to change the shift fork, i was qouted about 80-90 bucks for the part and a 100 bucks to put it in that seems like alot of work

well if a shop will install it for $100 your extremly lucky usually anything to do with transmission internals is expensive labor

You don't have to crack the case open. Just removal of tranny is needed. Might as well do all that stuf fyou wanted to do at once.

I would recommend that if you do not know what you are doing, find someone who does. Do it right the 1st time.
