So I'm about 1/2 way through the troubleshooting phase of my 'always on SRS light' and for the life of me, I can't find the 18P connector that I'm supposed to disconnect from the SRS Main Harness Unit and test the voltage with. I'm looking at the picture in my 96-00 Civic Service Manual (pg. 24-3 in the manual w/ green cover) and it looks like it's under the dash or even in the steering wheel. Also, the manual doesn't state what color the 18P connector is (I assumed yellow but can't find a yellow 18 pin connector)

To sum up, where is the SRS Unit and what color is the 18P connector that attaches to it? Do I need to remove anything to get to it? Any pics or links w/ pics would be great.

bump. i'm thinking center console under the a/c controls, radio...confirm?

 

Have you pulled the code? Or is the light always on even if you are jumping ther SCS?

 

I don't have the PGM tester...I jumped it and the light went on and then went off and then during the period where it should spit out the DTC, it goes off (no code given), then it comes back and & stays on.

I have the helm's manual....not sure if I should do the troubleshooting, based on the chart on 24-17, on page 24-26 or 24-29. I'm in the middle of the 24-29 flow chart (DTC doesn't go off).

Possibly unrelated but does anyone elses civic beep about 6 times when you start your car?

 

I found it; the SRS unit is enclosed in a black plastic case composed of 2 halves. There is one screw on each side of the unit which mean one screw is on the drivers side and one on the pasenger side. The actual unit is only a few inches from the gas pedal off to the right in the bottom/back of the center console area. The 18P connector comes is part of the SRS main harness, is yellow, and connects on the drivers side to the SRS unit. Hope this helps someone looking for it in the future.
