so as of recently my eg has been overheating

i would fill the radiator up with 50/50 and within a day it will all be gone or depending on how far i drive i would have to refill it and keep on doing it, there is no leaks, if checked for that

i flushed it

and what happens is that the hose going to the resevoir tank heats up really fast and fills up the resevoir tank and boils the **** out of it

could it be the thermostat or the headgasket?.....how could i narrow this down

 

I think it your radiator cap is not holding pressure, change that and see if it still over heat.

 

if its heating up like a motha im wondering if ur thermostat is not clogged or damaged or is ur fan turning on just check those to make sure

 

im gonna see if its the fans, now if they dont move when i start the car its the fans right?

 

pretty sure the fan wont make the rad blow... i know that the cap has alot to do with it and it is a cheap fix.....

 

alright ill get a new one at honda today see what happens

 

Surprised nobody's mention the Head Gasket. If the water's not leaking out, not coming out the reservoir, not coming out the cap, I'd expect it's going out the tail pipe. Bad HG will cause overheating too.

Does it run rough in the morning when you start it? Blow out any white smoke?

 

i asked in my original post if it could be the headgasket, well i went to honda today for a new thermostat and cap, so if that doesntwork.....im gonna have to get a headgasket

its pouring out of resevoir to tell you, steam only flies from there, doesnt run rough in the morning, no white smoke

 

EXACT same symptoms as when i blew the HG in my z6.

 

It shouldnt be the head gasket because there is no smoke, right? I would think that it would be the cap because its not holding the pressure so the coolant is going into the resevoir which overflows it. It could be overheating because the coolant is flowing as well as it would with pressure because the fluid is going out the resevoir rather then flowing down through the radiator like it should be. Thats just my 2 bits.

 

it should be your thermostat, because that was what was wrong with mine. if its the raditor cap then when your driving and when it gets hot there would be stream coming out from it. if its a head gasket blown then you should see stream or smoke coming from the head.

 

theres no smoke coming from the head at all, now i just did the cap, and im doing the thermostat in 5 minutes i just put it in boiling water to see if the new one is effective or defective...its good, so im replacing the old one with it........is there a way to bleed the air out of the lines, there looks like a lil bleeder next to the head, but im unsure

 

the air bleed bolt is located on the thermostat housing on the head, just use a wrench to open it to bleed the air from the system, make sure its bubble free stream flows.
