Default Is this collector ok?

Bought this for super cheap and basically i'm wondering if that burn though is going to be a problem. I'm calling it burn though, I dunno what you guys call it

It's only tacked together and needs to be tigged up.

Looks like someone's practice collector. It can be fixed, just clean it up.

I would build another one , and use low heat so you dont burn through and get the "moon rocks" on the inside , just take your time and work on the fitment , the better the fit the better and nicer the weld will be

Thats not bad for a 5-1 collector. Don't see them made out of pipe very often. Little more practice and it should turn out pretty nice.

Why or it will explode?

That burn through isn't bad; I've fixed worse and never had a problem Its a bit tricker to do it on a Tig but a Mig would fix that in a jiff. Then use a grinder to re-shape it and you're set!

Thanks for the replies.

Somebody local to me will be making the manifold, so i'll leave it upto him weather he wants to use it or fab up another one.

I'll post pics one it's all done.. probably won't be for a while.

hahaha moon rocks, that's awesome, i've only ever heard it referred to as sugaring. (i believe that's the asme term for contamination due to exposure to unshielded ozone on the back side of a weld due to too much goddamn heat.)
