OBD1 ignition timing question
Recently I noticed that my tach started to bounce at 5000Rpm and up.
So today I borrowed a timing light to adjust it.
I connected the blue plug under the dash. So that should eliminate timing advance right?
Well, because of a bad EACV I have the revving issue. And I noticed that when the revs start to go up and down, the markings on the pulley also shift. Regardless if I jump the plug or not.
I know I jumped it right, I used a multimeter to confirm, and also my CEL does all the right things as it's supposed to when you jump it.
What would make the marks shift like that still?
It's making it almost impossible for me to set the timing.

ok,....so it's normal for the mark to shift when it revs? I thought that would be eliminated when you jumped that plug.
...I'm using a real simple strobe hooked up to the cil#1.
