LS Turbo or GSR turbo?
my parents are giving me about 6-8k to buy a car and i wanna turbo for sure. now i'm debating wether to buy an ls or buy a gsr. i know that the ls block is better for boost because of its thicker sleeves and what not coupled with longer gear ratios which would help maximize boost. however, a gsr motor has good potential also. its built well from factory and would be fun to drive from day 1. plus, i want a 4door because i kinda wanna make it a sleeper. so what do you guys think? ls or gsr? plus, i was wondering since i've never dealt with integras, what problems do integras run into like from factory. after market problems happen because u change ****, but i'm wondering bout **** that's been known to break on integras. thanx for ur input.
first of all, you are lucky you are getting $$$ !!!! wow
ok, so you will probably want to buy a non modified integra if you are gonna boost it and do it right
no gsr 4 door, i think that you need to make sure that the car is over all good condition, and be ready to spend a lot on parts
many people will say to use the search on here, there are tons of threads on this topic
just remember to take your time, do it right the first time, do some research before buying, and good luck

you seem to be quite misinformed about some things....long gears dont "maximize" boost...how do you "maximize" boost anyway? and thicker sleaves?? whered you get this information? Do like said above...research

God damn your lucky i hope you realize that!!!
Ive busted *** for what i have and trust me its not much so far, ran outta money for my turbo kit.
But anyway...Buy a GSR no matter what 2dr or 4dr. Turbo it at no more than 8psi on stock internals. Tuning is key to longevity so dont chinse out on a cheap engine management system. Definatley unmodified, and buy a good color, white-black something easy that you wont have to worry about to much.... absolutely dont get red, sucks ***.
Also, integras are pretty much the cream of the crop of honda's so theres not to much to worry about problem wise. Just please keep away from cheap ricey parts, lets keep the integra name somewhat good. Ive seen quite a few integras that look like crap but theres always the ugly ducklings...
Good luck and happy hunting, integras kick *** and drive beautifully, i just got done driving a heavily modified STi and i still like the way my DC drives over it...

Also to OP one thing not to get caught up on is psi being a universal measurement for power...this "x psi on stock internals" is trash...look at a power limit instead of a psi limit....its been said before...10psi on a 18g turbo is not 10psi on a t4 or something much larger...
Thats a good thing to mention... its just that most dont put huge *** turbo's on honda's considering they dont spool for ****. Small turbo is the way to go with a honda... with a gsr motor oh my giving me wood just thinkin about it, im jealous.
if you put the same turbo kit and/or parts on a gsr compared to a ls, the gsr will always make more power. for you, with the lucky 6-8k from your parents, i would probably get a ls with low miles and turbo it. gsr's are really fun and nice cars, but you can probably find a better deal on a ls and be able to use the rest of the money on a turbo kit and tuning.

I personally would have the owner of the car that i'm interested in buying go run a compression and leakdown test before purchase. Tuning can't save an engine thats already bad.
