Default Weird Type S tranny problem.. Not like any I've searched for.

Well.. It all started today.. Up till now I have had NO problems with my tranny. No grinds everything was extremely smooth. I was driving kinda hard.. I took first gear to 4k RPM and shifted into second and gave it some gas, causing the tires to chirp a bit. Then I noticed it wouldnt go into any other gears. It didnt grind, it felt like there was somthing jaming the shiftlinkage. All I could do was go down into second and up into neutral... I checked in the engine bay and everything looked good. I then applied pressure on the stick towards the right, like towards 5th/6th and it popped over finally and everything worked perfect. It was as if the problem didnt happend..

I figured it was something underneath the shifter maybe that got caught.. Then I to0k the car out later and I hit 8k RPM's and the same thing happend. Its like the shifter gets retarded.. So, I jammed the shifter around and poof.. Problem fixed the car drove perfect and I had all gears..

This problem sound fimiliar to anyone?

I've never had or heard of that problem. If it keeps doing that, tell the dealer.

Nope.. I have no short shifter. I took the centerconsole apart today to see if maybe something was jammed.. Nothing. I got home today and I couldnt go into 1st 3rd or 5th.. The shifter wont even go up to those slots. Its like something is jammed. Im betting on the Synco's.. Which is weird, because Ive never had any grinding problems or anything like that.. So, I went to the engine bay and tried to shift it into gear manually.. Thinking that maybe a shifter cable broke.. Negitive. Same thing, wouldn't go into any of the top gears. So, then I started the car and slowly revved it and holding the clutch in and slightly applying pressure towards the first gear. Still, nothing. Weird enough, I turned the car off after trying that and went back over to the engine bay and again tried to jam it into 1st and it popped in. Now I have all the gears and everything is shifting smooth..

This is retarded..

Im gonna try calling an Acura dealership and see whats up. My car is an early 02 that was made in like 11/01.

Any other suggestions or similarities?

could be the syncros. They have caused a lot of popping/grinding issues as well. I dont know about the short shifter but Acura is usually pretty **** about mods. To be honest i hate the dealership and would never go to them even if it was free. They fucked my tranny up and didn't put the valve pins back in when they did some work on it last year. Found out last month when i was putting in my clutch and Quaife LSD. Cost me $200 in parts.

Could be the throw-out bearing. I was having similar issues in my EP recently.

Well.. The car does whine when I have it in neutral, and if I press the clutch in, the whine goes away. I realized my throwout bearing was bad, but I didn;t realize this is what they did when they actually started going.. It actually blocks you out of gears?

The throw out bearing won't let the pressure plate properly disengage. Happens here and there at first, then all the time. I'm pretty sure this could be your problem. I have the same issue with mine.
