Default Snapped an Axle before the 60'

I just happened to be bragging last night at how i have never broken an axle. have done over 100 passes. this year i have been practicing preloading the clutch, and it really works
i lined up, preloaded, launched, about 40ft out the passenger side inner cv lets loose. still managed a 2.4 60'! i usually spin all of first and some of second on 225 bfg's. i dont recall any whell hop, but i could have happened. i have solid mounts, traction bars, etc.
this every happen to anyone else??
they were pepboys lifetime axles (i know) so i didnt cost anything, just my time.
thanks
burke

2.4 60 is getting it done

you need to lower your launch rpm or something you are absolutly killing the tires/drivetrain

i dont recall any wheel hop, thats the thing. i really dont remember getting any. it was just spinning like normal and then at about 40' out bam it just went. i knew i should not have got in the sticky lane the funny thing was it that it was during bracket racing and the other guy broke out, so technically i still won lol

I break an axel almost every time I launch. I.ve broken 2 DSS stage 2 and 4 pep boy specials. I snap the at the spline, so far I haven't broken one at the joint. Now my car is sitting in a friends backyard waiting for me to spend the $ on axles.

I tried slicks, but ended up running BFG dr 205/50.15. I'm using a tilton twin disc clutch, we preload, then if I ease it out of the hole, it will snap on the 1-2 shift. Oh well, the car is 3000 miles away so there is no rush to fix it. Larry

Snapped an axle the other day while I was going to second gear. Didnt even snap at a joint, it snapped at the end of the spline inside the differential Bad Part about it is that All I have is a D-series with a Crower built head, sk2 intake mani, i/h/e, and a few other goods. I was only shifting at about 5k in first and went to second and there it went. Pretty crazy if you ask me.
