Light weight flywheel question's. What are you guys using?
OK have a D16z6 and using an 88si 5spd in my 90 Civic hatch. I have been thinking of buying a light flywheel for my car. Car will see ocasional street use, drag, and autocross. I was just wondering what the best choice would be for me. Steel or aluminum, street vs. race, what brand etc. Also I have read there may or may not be some clearance issues using a stock clutch. I have a new clutch to go in but I was curious to know if it will work with the new flywheel. All information appreciated

I think mine is an exedy. All it basically does is increase response when rev matching or when there's no load on the motor. Other than that it wont do ****. Cool to have for track/auto-x...but that's about it.
Yea the car revs pretty quick, my car atleast acts the same just about as it did on lower rpms and runs faster through top end. But soon as i start adding passengers etc it takes more effort than before it did stock to pull them.

I would LOOOVVVVVVVVEEEEEEE to hear something that backs this claim.
Your flywheel weight has NOTHING to do with Tq.

Sorry to revive this thread from the dead but I had a question about lightened flywheels in general.
I just got my hands on a very nice 91 Civic Si hatch with a DOHC ZC motor with an Si tranny. The guy who owned it before me had installed a light flywheel and I can't get the hang of shifting out of 1st and 2nd to save my life.
Once I am in 3rd gear it's easy but by that time I am already up around 2500 to 3000 RPMS. Whenever I shift from 1st to 2nd the rpms plummet and I have to blip the throttle to get a smoother shift...if I don't get that sudden pull when the clutch is released.
Are there any tricks you guys use to drive with these kinds of flywheels? I just don't want to mess up my clutch, mounts or tranny
Sorry for the noob question but it's my first car like this. All my other cars have had stock flywheels.
