was drinving my car yesterday and noticed a great loss in power. the car even struggled to set off, (sort of felt like it wasn't firing on all cylinders but it was, i replaced distributor, ht leads and sparkplugs today to see if this sorted the problem but didn't)

I removed the oil cap on the rocker cover and loads of smoke kept coming out.

please help someone i need to find out what the problem is, i have a complete spare car in the garage inc engine so sorting the problem shouldn't be a problem. I just cant afford to go to a garage to this checked out has i have no money

someone has got to know what smoke coming out of the oil cap on the rocker cover is a sign of???

sounds like rings let loose, do a compression and leakdown test

 

probably sound like a dick now but i dont know how to do a compression test. I changed the timing belt the other day and the timing was way out, could the bad timing of caused this???

if smoke came out it's possible u roasted the valves...

do a compression test asap

you have to buy teh guage, it plugs into where the spark plug goes, then u have to pump gas and try to start it (w/ all the plugs taken out)

That's a bad descript, but that's the basics, I'm sure wherever you find a compression tester you can find a better explanation

 

it idles pretty sweet, theres smoke constantly coming out. its only when i put my foot down theres no power and the odd time when trying to set off.

had a compression test done at a garage and all was fine but thats all i could afford to do. Is there any sensors on the car that could be causing the problem???
