my "maintenance needed" thing faded from green to red??

its not a light, but a paper thing that rolls? it changed colours
my car runs fine, i've had it since oct, i've changed the oil, no other lights have came on.. anyone know how i can reset this thing? or how i can check it. it' a 99 coupe

just stick a key in the slot by the light or somewhere near it.. (dont remember) to reset it to green. if u keep your car fairly maintained you wont have to worry about half the stuff it recommends to check. however timing belt, water pump, etc.. are highly recommended at certain mile intervals so make sure to look it up.

ok I get it, it's like a timer of sorts? and I see it has teeth like gear where I would "rewind" it, thanks guys. I'll be sure to do all the maintnece on it

it is set at pre determined intervals that were set by the manufacturer to help remind the owner that it is time to be service..
there is a little slot next to it on the cluster.. stick your key in and its magically green again... it will soon enough rotate back to red...
