Default D16 Idle Problem (Searched to no answer)

Recently my car acted funny, and then didnt act at all. My car would idle normal at 900 r's and them drop to 100, shake REALLY bad, then jump up to 600, drop... etc...

I replaced cap and rotor... car died... replaced ignition coil, car lives.

The problem now, the car idles normal at 900 r's, after it is warm for awhile it will drop to 600 r's, then drop to 100; shake mildly (compared to before that is). This process continues until I reach my destinations.

I found that my problem is closely related to https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1587024

However, I'm a noob (IF YOU CAN'T TELL), and I do not know where to find the IACV, or where a vacuum leak would be located, or if this is a different problem.

I'm driving a 95 Del Sol SI SOHC d16z6.

Please help, its really driving me nuts!

I had this problem on my EK's D16, except my idle would actually drop so low the car would stall out if you didn't always leave it in gear in order to avoid going low on the rpms, and when you stop you had to constantly rev the motor. Mine turned out to the the IACV, which is located on the throtte body. More than likely the IACV needs to be replaced, and the parts around it need a good cleaning.

Its got two bolts or so and has two hoses going into it, its near the back of the intake towards the tb. Thats where the IACV valve is. I wish I could explain better. For easy repairs you can get a manual from those autoparts stores.

Just call your local autoparts store...they can give you a price for the part and can also help you locate your problem. "Most" of the time there cool and will open up a chilton or something just to help out....plus you dont spend a dime and you get educated on your car at the same time.

How do I check to make sure that it is the IACV that is causing this problem? I dont think its a vacuum leak. When my subwoofers are on this problem is more noticeable.

My buddy with a 93 Del Sol SI, in West Virginia called me today and said that his car is doing the same thing mine did before my ignition coil went. He replaced the distributor and the car started acting like the same symptoms mine had. Now if he replaces the ignition coil, does this mean that he'll probably have the same problem I'm having now? It's just too ironic that our cars have had the same problem in less than a few weeks apart.

All your help is appreciated!

Thanks!

CHECK ALL of your grounds, since you said your car seems to want to die when the subs are on i bet its either your grounds or your alternator is dieing go have it checked at napa or whatever, they usually do it for free
