Default B16 tranny Rebuild.

Okay, so my B16A tranny is shot out. My 3rd and 5th gear grinds like crazy when i shift into them. Also my 4th gear is starting to give out. I'm aware that the synchros are the reason for their grinds. This is what I am planning on doing. Put LSD, replace ALL 1st to 5th synchros. How much would the parts cost me? Just the part not for the labor! Also, do you think its worth rebuilding or should i just get a whole new tranny with LSD all together?

honda sells the syncros in set 1-2nd gear, 3-4th and 5-R so your preety much going to have to buy all the syncros(sleeve set) honestly it might be cheaper to just buy a used tranny with low miles...

B trannys, when the synchros are grinding, the dog teeth on the gears are already damaged. You'll need to replace the gearsets also.

Expect $500+ in parts alone.

well, seeing what Mista Bone said, if ur syncros are bad, theres more to it. I would suggest trying to find a used tranny or find one with a busted case and swap the internals. Im sure you can find a crashed B-seried Honda with a cracked case/bell and just swap the internals....anyways, just my 2 cents. Good luck with the project!

I was having the same problems and id call honda and they said for a whole set syncros was $600 + labor and other part i have to buy to do the rebuild. If u rebuild the tranny u have to rebuild everything cus u would end up having the same problems. So ur best bet is buy another tranny.I know it sux cus i end up buying another one and they arent cheap.Good luck.
