Tranny Opinion...
Well, heres the story...
My gsr tranny needs a new mainshaft bearing and a new 3rd gear syncro. I can get the syncro set for about 130 and the new bearing for around 30 as well. I figured since I'd be in there I may as well upgrade to an itr lsd and throw in the jdm 4.7 final drive.
Do you think this would be worth it opposed to just buying a jdm itr tranny.
Figure 130(syncro)+30(bearing)+370(jdm fd)+350(itr lsd) = $880
I dont mind the gearing with my tranny @ all. I just can see that it'd be more cost effective if I sold mine for like 4-500 and just bought an itr tranny for around a grand, I just dont know how easily I could sell this tranny. Any comments??
Also, I have a b16 tranny in the garage thats missing a 5th gear. I've also thought about using the b16's 2nd-4th gears since I would be working on the mainshaft and countershaft anyways.

damn where do you get that synchro set for 130??? my discount for the gear and synchro set is 235'ish from acura.
i would make one of those trannies. it would be better than what you have now (stock gsr) unless you feel like selling me that tranny
so you could just get a type r tranny. i really would take that gsr. with third in need and a new input shaft bearing...not worth 400-500.
i didn't see you had a freakin b16 tranny. here is what you need to do...put the gsr fifth in the b16 and sell me the gsr leftovers
...then put your 4.78 and itr lsd in the b16 tranny...voila! problem solved...basically a 4.78 spec.
