ROTOR SCREWS - Stripped/Broken.... Can You Drill Them Out?
Hey guys,
First tiem ive ever done brakes on this car (88 crx si) so I take the wheels off and take the caliper off (not easy btw) go to take the rotors off and ofcourse whoeever did the brakes before me or attempted has ruined these rotors screws.
3 of the 4 are completely rounded over, one of them is broken off at the head
Im thinking Im gonna have to drill them out, I have no rotors so I dont care I guess
Can I just drill out the entire screw and all is good? or is there something behind that I can damage?>
Thanks

go ahead and destroy them, it wont hurt anything. Next time use an impact driver, its a screwdriver that you whack with a hammer and it spins a little while exerting pressure...that's the only way to remove those damn unnecessary screws.

Agreed. Also depending on how much is left you maybe able to get a screw out/easy out on it.

What do you mean?
Is there something behind that I can break?, I dont get what this screw is for even. I am not using these rotors again and I know I can disregard the screws when I install the new ones as they are jus thre for assembly on the assembly line I heard so I wwont be reinstalling them, can I just dirll them out, all 4?
One of them is broken off like I said, so removing that one is impossible, the rest are just totally rounded over
I just wanna grab a drill and drill through the ****** right? go right through aint gonna hit nothing.....

Actually, next time use flathead allen screws. They are MUCH easier to remove.
