Do you have a CEL and does your ECU blink? If you are throwing a CEL your car will go into limp mode and it limits your revs...

What ECU are you running?

Is your Check Engine Light (CEL) on? If so, find out which code it is throwing and that shoould lead you to the problem.

If you're running the VX ECU (p07) you're going to have to jump a few wires to check the CEL (Check Engine Light) codes.

Check your PMs

I'm wondering if this is part of the problem. Running a 12valve obd1 vtec-e motor (without vtec) on an a obd0 16 valve SI ECU might freak out the ECU. The fuel maps are all different.

So... is the Check Engine Light on or not?

if it is, look at the ECU and count how many long/short blinks it is producing on the small red LED.
