poss bad ring??
Ok So i have my head off my car . for the past few weeks ive been hitting my bare engine with wd40 to keep it lubed and no corosion. Today I notice that 3 of the cylinders have wd left in them but the first cylinder was bare no fluid on top of the piston. Im thinkin maybe the rings are shot or maybe the wd is just to thin? inputs please... or could it be that due to the motor not running the rings arent expanding?
Car has 44k on it never boosted before

Don't worry. WD is pretty light and usually dries up. It's probably a fluke that one cylinder dries up. I wouldn't spray it down each time with WD since you have your head off. Use synthetic engine oil, it'll coat the cylinder walls better and do it only once. Keep the block covered to prevent dust and other stuff from getting in there. Change your oil before you start it up once the engine is back together. It doesn't hurt to crank the engine over a few times to get oil pumping before you fire it up.

It's always best to be on the side of caution and concern.
