you said it came out of your freinds car, what car is it? And a chipped ECU means that it's been modified with a performance chip. and im afraid SST doesn't do performance. There is a sticker on the outside on the opposite side of the ecu plug in (the big one) the sticker usually has a barcode and somewhere you will see P29 or something like that. is your sticker missing? if it is, it's also printed on the green silocone in white print. should have a P and 2 numbers

Well think about it.
What kind of car did it come out of?
What kind of engine is in the car??
Is it OBD 2 or has it been converted to OBD 1?

There has to be a thread on here somewhere saying what ecu goes with what engine...

just buy a chip that u like for ur motor, dohc or sohc, and pop it in and ur good to go

the ecu looks like its a converted ecu, like it was made into a p28 vtec

SST is the brand of the chip not the program

all u need to go is get a new chip, put it in, simply pull put the old, push in the new, and u know what your running and the spec's

how easy is that

Indeed, it's chipped, only way to know what's on it is to send it to someone to read it, just get a new chip. SST chips are nice, flash reburnable and can hold two programs.

You can do a little wiring trick and hook it up to a switch, and flip it back and forth for the programs.
