Default Knock sensor not connected?

okay here's my set up:

91 STD Hatch
95 d16z6 full swap
obd0-obd1 JK jumper with p28

Okay my knock sensor is not connected, however I dont get a CEL, everything works great.
@5200 RPM's I feel a "pull" but, is this not the vtec kicking in?
I read that if the Knock sensor is not wired, vtec never kicks in and throws a code.
I don't have any codes, is it still possible for the vtec to kick in?
Am i supposed to hear it? My friend told me SOHC make no noise @ vtec.

Anyone?

I'm building an LS-VTEC and I wanna use a p72. They do read them, right? So i'll just have to run the one wire?

Yes the p72 reads knock sensor..Why would you want to use a p72 ecu if you have a p28..You can have the p28 chipped for the lsvtec setup..Unless you want the p72 because you're running gsr head with iab's ??
