Hey,
I just put an obd1 jdm b18c1 motor and lsd trans into my 95 teg ls. I wired in vtec sol, vtec oil press. switch and knock sensor. I used a chipped p28 that was my friends at first, but he needed it back so now i am using the jdm p72 that came with the swap, but it wont let vtec engage. This involves the knock sensor, correct? I am positive everything with that is wired in correctly and it is a new knock sensor also bc that broke while we were putting in the motor.
Are there any other differences between the ecu's that would cause this to happen? I am getting absolutley no codes. Before the knock sensor was wired in, i was getting a code 23 (knock sensor) so i figured that now that the code is gone it's in there correctly.
I have the opportunity to buy a p28 with uberdata. SHould i just go with that? I am boosting within the next month or two as soon as my warranty on my motor is expired, and i will need tuning anyway. Is it safe to just use an ecu that eliminates the knock sensor?
Or are the pinouts for the knock sensor different between the two ecu's?

Did the Chipped P28 work with the secondary butterflies? if so what rpm did it engage the secondarys also what rpm did the Vtec engage at. with the P72 hooke up right you shoud hit vtec at 4400 and secondarys come on at 5800.
here is what i did

Vtec Solenoid (YEL/GRN) goes to A4
Vtec Oil Pressure 2 wire (BLU) goes to D6 and Black goes to Ground
Knock Sensor goes to D3
IAB Solenoid (secondary Butterflies) the PNK/BLU goes to A17 and the BLK goes to 12v- (ground)

Hey.. i think i missed the iab sol. wire.... i can hear the 1st part of vtec go around 4400 but then the secondaries dont... thanks alot ill try this on sat. and let u know how it goes..

I wired up the secondaries and went over everything else, and still no vtec with the p72. I went to Jeff Evans and bought a p28 with uberdata. We couldnt get vtec to engage with the unberdata and Jeff Couldnt remember whether or not to check the vtec box on the program so we tried both. Vtec wouldnt engage either way. The 2 step wouldnt work either So then he cut the resistor thing (no clue wat im talking about there) and it went back to a stock p28 map with vtec at 4800 and it works. It is socketed for hondata as well and we used his from his hatch and that worked very well, but i dont have the funds for that yet so i will wait til i do then go with hondata.
