yeah i was driving today and i was reaching for my radar detector and i threw my car into reverse on accident cuz i wasn't looking where i was reaching...and i heard a pop like i blew the gear out... but then i put it back into drive real fast.

Now when im parked and put my car in reverse it makes a VERY loud noise, and reverse doesn't work

could this be fixed without having to buy a new tranny

 

Isn't the button on the shift lever supposed to prevent that from happening? I guess you changed the shift lever huh?

 

God Bless you if you can fix this without a new trans, but im pretty sure you're gonna need one.

unless you wanna open your door while in nuetral and just kick it back

 

you might be a lucky bastar* if you don't blow the reverse gear... but curious to know, how can you get into the reverse gear while the gear is in D position? OR, what were you doing other than reaching for the radar?

 

On the upside, I just replaced a tranny for under 1600.

 

Not trying to be a "smart one" or nothing but... you are supposed to add in your title what year, model and what the problem could be instead of saying "I really f****d my car up"...

yeah, I think we all would like to hear the <U>real</U> story...

 

yeah there is someting your leaving out. did you change your shifter lever. it is nearly impossible to put it into reverse from the drive position. neutral yeah but not reverse. i have tried myself and without force, a brush agaist the lever ain't going throw it into reverse.

 

Yeah you definitely need to overhaul your tranny. You probably blew the idler gear to ****, maybe even the input shaft...you'd be better off going for a new tranny... maybe consider a 5 speed swap... Good Luck dude...

 

lol. thats what happened to my camry. i was going downhill and i tried to shift to neutural and i shifted to much and got into reverse. lol the car died on me right away

 

how fast where you going when this happend?

i have done that, but i have a aftermarket auto stick.
I was in a parking grage, going down went in N then i went up on the stick, then "ClacK"! went in reverse. Lucky i was going 5 mphs or less and my gear still works.

try to put a tranny leak fixer or sumthing to see if it will catch.

 

it was a very stiff hill, i guess i was going bout 20 or 30.

 

btw, i dont think its worth to fix the tranny, just get another car buddy

not another car, but another tranny at least.

man, how much is a 90 accord worth? not more than 2k.. and you might find one with better shape.

 

yea this might sound dumb but it worked for me in my civic put the car in nutral and hold the cas to the floor if its like mineit wount rev past 3k cause its stuck between gears but hold it there for a min and it should pop it to gear right and rev normal
