Default B16 Weird idle and popping

i have a B16 obd1 in a 93 coupe and recently it will idle really low sometimes, under the 500 rpm range, and sometimes it will idle about 650-700. i do notice that before i get to stop the car will pop and backfire when letting off the gas at low speeds, lower rpms. i know to check the FITV and IAC and all that, but would one of those sensors make it pop sometimes? normally it does not pop at all. kinda weird and i have no CEL lights. any ideas?

Check your plugs and make sure they're gapped the the proper specs.

You're either running rich or you've got a modified exhaust...

Running rich is more likely. When's the last tuneup you've had?

running rich

i had the same problem with 2 of my b16 swaps. you might want to clean the intake/exhaust manifolds. check the plug gaps again.

EDIT: O, and low oil pressure can cause low/short idle problems. get an oil and filter change and powerflush your engine

just did an oil change bout month and a half ago, think the oil pump is goin bad? VTEC still hits very strong, i would think that if i had low oil pressure, this wouldnt work

low oil pressure = no vtec

the the oil pump is fine. i suggest just carb cleaning your manifold and sensors.
