reliablilty of a boosted b16 (stock)
im slowly collecting parts to boost my eg hatch but use it as a daily driven car. ive heard alot of people talking about blowing engines in 5th gear.why is this ?. just curious as to how safe it is to sit on the motorway (freeway) at 80mph (4200rpm ish) for a few hrs ?.

well i drove mine for a lil over 4 years at 7 psi and had no issues with it. And i drove 8-90 mph pretty much everywhere. So id say if you stay low boost you should be safe.
Well, ive been running for almost a full year now and i drive on the 5 like... almost daily, i also drive around 90ish.. but i dont hit boost till im in Vtec, t3/67 sooo yeah.. mine is fine and still very strong

dude u dont hit boost unless u stump on the gas 90 mph still in vac on my b16a w?gsr tranny
just dont stay long on fifth eventhough its tuned properly i wont take a chance

stock b16a2. i run around daily anywhere from 7-10psi and i drive 50 miles round trip to work M-F. I dont really beat on it tho, unless some ******* is goig slow in the passing lane and i need to leisurely pass him 
oh and sometimes 13psi on the weekends with 100+ octane

Just take care of the car, be up on oil and spark plug changes, have it tuned professionally, and don't beat the hell out of it every second you get.
To clarify, I can't tell what you're really asking about the whole 5th gear scenario. If the car is tuned properly, and you are in still in vacuum doing your stated 4200 rpm on the freeway, the motor will be performing just as it was stock. A lot of people have problems in 5th because they are staying in boost for an extended amount of time.
