The turbo d will be faster than the b or h out of the box. If your d series has a lot of miles you might reconsider. Thats one reason I didn't boost my d series (that and my aem cam gear smoked my head), so then maybe you should go with the b series motor. You'll have more money later down the road to boost that and then you'll be fasterest.

i'm also considering this. i have a jdm d16a(usdmd16z6) with around 40k on it. when is "too much milage" considered for turbo.
if i swaped, i'm planning to go b18c. budget is 3.5k but saving money is always a good thing

I'll let you know when it's "too much mileage". I'm currently at 230k on my stock D16Z6. It's been turbo'd since last summer. I was running 7-10psi with zero problems, but recently I've been running 15psi on a TD04 14G (small) turbo.
I'm burning a good bit of oil, which I think is a combination of blown turbo and blown piston rings (rings are most likely gone because my VAC portion of my tune is too rich.)

I have had both and honestly I perfer B series. I had a lot of fun with the turbo D16 but in the end it cost to much to get more out of it. After I sold it i got a B20 turbo, full swap with a T3/T4 was only about 2 grand. Never went vtec with, didn't need it.
