Maaco in san diego
Im about to paint my 94 LS, jus wondering if anyone has gotten a paint job at the Macco located in Escondido or in Kearny, dont really mind gettin flamed not looking for a G paint job nor showcase quality. I've heard as long as you instruct/write down what portions you dont want painted oversprays should be fine.
one of my buddies got his EG painted at the one in Kerny mesa for $600 with 3 year warranty. I will take some pics of his car when i see him this weekend. They did a good job IMO

A good job to someone who doesn't have keen eyes for such a thing. Once you work in the Auto business for awhile you start to notice everything. The saying will always go. " You get for what you paid for"
i went to the one in escondido a few times. they werent very good at matching my VSM paint.....at all. one time it was too dark, and the other time it was too light. one time it was matched ok, but there were surface scratches under the paint....like they did a half *** job sanding it, maybe forgot that they should use a finer grit to make it less scratchy
. they did match my gf's fender really well.....it was teal though. so, my overall impression was ok....the labor was cheap and the outcome was so/so. i probably wouldnt recommend it unless you are planning on selling your car and dont car how it comes out. i was selling my car so i had to fix **** before hand.....so i went maaco.....

i was very displeased when i got my '94 Frost White Si painted at Kearny Maaco. i paid for tha Supreme package. i gave them specifics on what i wanted painted, what i didn't want painted, what dings to have done, and how i wanted the rear-right quarter shaped (because of damage), and pointed out electrical tape i had on the door jambs (to protect metal with no paint from rusting).
- i got tha car a week later than i was told.
- i came a week later and they told me to come back tha next day.
- i came back tha next day and there was hella shiet (like sand) all underneath tha paint. i had to come back tha next day for them to fix it. seemed kind of quick.
- i came back tha next day and i noticed tha grill was painted white, when i specifically told them to leave it black. they told me to come back after lunch. seemed kind of quick. they just ghetto sprayed it.
- i came back after lunch and i noticed they painted tha door jambs, but right over tha electrical tape that wasn't even flat/flushed. tha tape was effin' half pulled and they painted over that. ftw?
- they hooked up all my moldings, my front windshield, my radiator, my tires, my muffler, and my taillights with white paint.
- o, and my dings were still there. they were never pulled, covered, or anythin'.
instead of bringin' it back to have them mess it up again, i got so discouraged and decided to just sell tha car. also, about a month after tha paint job, i brought it to one of those car wash ports where you put tha quarters in, and i sprayed tha front bumper. huge flakes of tha paint just washed right off and tha original paint was right there. my original paint still looked shiny/glossy underneath. ftw?
i will give them credit on one thing tho. they did a good job on tha damage i had on tha rear-right quarter panel. however, tha damage part that was by tha lip of my fender, they completely flattened out. if you notice on tha EJ's and EH's, they have a certain shape/crease to them. they didn't make it like tha left side as i specified.
well, that car is long gone now.
i've had 2 other friends who have gotten their car painted at Kearny Maaco. a couple things that seem to be obvious with their work is tha sucky masking. they oversprary everythin', and tha paint on tha bumpers come off not too long after leavin' their shop.
if you go there, GL!

Maaco job only cost 200 and its the presidential
It just came back from paint. What do you think?
I did all wet sanding, primer, bondo, and masking myself
the paint is 1 stage base/clear
