Default Starter?

Let me just start off by saying that ive already searched about my problem and there seemed to be many diff possible cases of what can be wrong so i thought i would describe my situation.

Ok, well it finally stopped raining here in the bay, so i decided to take my 92 hatch out, but when trying to start it, it would just almost start but eventually it just started clicking like crazy. Some little kid came over and said it sounded like my car had machine guns, lol. Would this be symptoms of a bad starter? Also someone told me that a bad starter could result in your car dying at like stop lights when driving, is this true because its happened to me before I already tested my alternator at autozone twice and it came back good so we can rule that out. And i cleaned the ground on the starter or by it, and checked the battery connections and other ground on the valve cover to rad support. Any help or suggestions is appreciated

I would have your battery tested as well. A starter wouldn't cause your car to die at stoplights and such.

my bad, it only died once and that was when i was mashing my car and came to a stop quickly, and it died. but i noticed that every once in a while while at a light my car seems to loose power, like it sputters until i hit the gas. Its funny because when i told my brother this he took it out for a drive several times and it was fine.

But right now, my car wont even start, it just clicks like a "machine gun" as my little neighbor told me, i thought that was hella funny! lol.

someone just told me it might be my voltage regulator, but could that be the problem even though my alternator passed at autozone?

we can throw out a million ideas... but you need to start eliminating some things... you had the alternator checked, have the battery checked next... if that doesn't work, try a starter...

u always want to eliminate the most simple things like the battery first(that turned out to be the problem in the first place). I know someone that the first thing that he did when her car didnt start was change the alternator , the starter and THEN tested the battery after all that didnt work.

glad to hear it was a simple fix
