Default Question about intercooler piping found on ebay?

Hi, I found this intercooler piping on ebay and it looks like a really good deal, might be too good a deal for what it is. I was just curious, it says 18 gauge piping, how thin is that? Too thin? Thanks in advance, sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I figured fabricators would have more experience with the piping and such.

18 gauge is fine...I just built mine out of 18.

Your main probelm is it rusting on the inside. I would look for aluminum.

it's not really a problem. 10s of thousands of cars have mild steel charge pipes.

looks fine to me, price is good

just the 2 inch from the turbo is kinda small for me, but may be good for your set up

Yeh, I picked it up, looks really nice. The only problem is that they didn't clean out the shavings from drilling the BOV opening, but it's not that big of a deal. Lucky that I noticed it now though before the shavings got sucked into my motor.

not that it's ideal, but I have made over 400whp on almost identical 2" piping...and a .48 a/r to boot!

I don't see much of an issue. If nothing else, spray a bunch of anti-rust oil (55gal drum at my work) - fogging oil might work good, and douse the upstream section of each pipe. It should work its way downstream, and help prevent rusting.

Even if it did rust internally, I would think it would take while. In a worst-case scenerio, I can't see it taking less than 2-3 years before it started flaking away or falling apart.
