ok, my friend has an eg (shell) and has a 00 cx motor that he wants to put in it. now im pretty sure you have to get an obd 1 dizzy, alternator and fuel injectors. but what ecu do you use? and what do you do about the second O2 sensor? he wants the car to be Smog legal too, so what do we need to do to keep it legal and have no codes?

 

dont get the cx..aht least get an ex motor...but if you wanna be smog legal he can use any motor that is not JDM...for instance h22a1 b16a2 b18c5 b18c1 is USDM so it will be smog legal...

 

i know, i guess my main question im looking to be ansewed is which ecu do i use so i dont throw any codes and is there any cutting and splicing i need to do? ya and hes getting the motor from a friend so hes only paying like 50$. he plans on doing a swap later tho.

 

use cx ecu from 92-95

that ecu will not look for the 2nd o2 sensor.

you need to READ to fix it. come on now.

Are you gonna try and get it Bar'd by converting it to obd1? they will know its an obd2 motor by the paperwork on the motor. If your in california im pretty sure that wont work for the cert.

 

i already knew what hatchi was tryin to tell me. im just trying to figure out how do i do the swap and still passs smog? what ecu do i use? because obviously the 00 ecu wont fit in the stock wire harness. i have a p28 but that will still throw the O2 sensor code? thats my main concern i know there has to be a way around this?

 

no, the p28 wont throw and code for no scond o2 sensor because it doesnt use one. any obd1 ecu will onle need ONE O2 sensor

 

ok,but the check engine light will be on wont it? so your saying that all i have to do is put the motor in swap altenators fuel injectors and dizzy, then i can take it to get it smoged and it will pass, with the p28?
