ok, my friend has an eg (shell) and has a 00 cx motor that he wants to put in it. now im pretty sure you have to get an obd 1 dizzy, alternator and fuel injectors. but what ecu do you use? and what do you do about the second O2 sensor? he wants the car to be Smog legal too, so what do we need to do to keep it legal and have no codes?

you'll need to use an obd2 ECU and have NO CELs to be smog legal. this means you'll need to wire up all the OBD2 sensors, as well as the diagnostic plug. imo, it's easier and cheaper to swap in a obd1 d15 from an LX or DX.

You will be smog legal if you use the obd1 ecu. as long as you use all of your existing smog equipment. The only way you will need to use the obd2b ecu is if you want to get it barred which i doubt you will do. Or if you want to run that ecu buy a conversion harness and put in 2nd o2 etc etc
