Default Anyone with a blown head gasket on a B18B?

I was wondering how common are blown head gaskets on B18B's? I was curious also to know how many on Honda-tech have experienced it.

Thanks!

They are not common unless something is wrong, you are beating on your car, or you are pushing lots of power/pressure.

Why are you asking? I have experienced it, but I also had about 400whp on a stock gasket set.

No because I was having an issue on a stock 99 Integra LS (Auto) w/a blown gasket. Very small leak but enough to cause small misfire... I wannted to see how common. Its getting the head resurfaced and a new OEM gasket so it should be cool. He is also replacing valve seals and adjusting.

Most likely you'll spin a rod bearing or something before you blow your head gasket. Honda's oem are pretty good.

A big factor in blowing head gaskets is over heating and warping the head or block. Thats why heads and blocks get resurfaced/milled so that a truely flat surface can mate to each other. Our B18A/B's have so low of a compression ratio, I think that this translates into less occorences of blown head gaskets.

Meanwhile, some high compression NA and turbo applications blow head gaskets left and right. After market head studs are a preferred method of ensuring a constant seal.

My B18A was hydrolocked at 250K miles, I was poor at the moment it happened, so I cut corners and replaced the bent rod and reused the same 250K mile head gasket and head studs. I am at 291K miles now, and haven't had a problem with it at all. Good luck to you. Do a compression test to help confirm the problem.
