Yes, its a must to replace the head gasket. Think of an aluminum can after you squash it with your foot. Can you get it pefectly shaped again? NO! Also, cheap insurance. Good feeling after you spen about 5 hours replacing the head to find out you have a head gasket leak! ITS LOVELY!

And I'd recommend getting an OEM head gasket, as well. A friend of mine works on Honda's and Acura's and from his engine-building experience, the OEM ones last.

you can *usually* get away with reusing an MLS gasket once, but if you have the head apart already, you might as well replace it as a precaution.

you dont need an OEM gasket. I've always used FelPro gaskets and they work without a problem.

reusing old tired internet analogies is like reusing APC stickers on your new windshield... it makes you look like a riceboy forum kiddie idiot.

"reusing a head gasket is like reusing a condom".... a reused condom would still work, and thus you proved my point.

owned.

No need for insults .
I was just proving a point. Reusing an HG is jut something you shouldn't do! By saying that you reuse headgaskets you are just showing your incompetance . Please don't give terrible advice to people asking important questions such as this and then try to insult me. My "reusing a condom" statement may have been lame but, it proves it's point.

Sorry to bust your thread bro. Please don't reuse a head gasket!

Phil

Yeah there is no need to get all bent out of shape. I thought the analogy was good. Sure you can reuse a condom, but in this day and age WHY!!!??? The benefits of a $3 box of condoms outweighs getting the burn when you pee. A Headgasket is like $40. Might as well. Save the headache later. I recently removed my head to replace the gasket and it isnt something I would want to do more than absolutely needed. I personally dont reuse any gaskets except the valve cover gasket.
