Default Help me figure this out...

Ok straight to business...

D15b7/s20 ex tranny
AEm cam gear
d16a6 cam
z6 intake manifold
OBX header
Airmass exhaust
G-sport cap and rotor (sucks ***...blue corrosion everywhere)
NGK plugs and wires

Now after i swapped the cam seal and cleaned the terminals on the cap with a knife I lost power...it accelerates slowly (i know its a b7 but it pulled very hard before this install). When you push the pedal in to give it more gas it sounds like its t hrowing way too much gas in and not enough spark. Overall the idle is good, the car runs good, just has a lack of power.

Ive tried moving the cam gear one tooth retarded and advanced (both of which were worse). And Im at a loss...i need a checklist of anything and everything that could cause this lack of power that im having. Thanks guys

Replace cap+rotor. The contacts could be even worse now that you "tried" to clean them.

Did you move the distributor? This would throw the timing off and make the car run shitty.

I had a problem exactly like that after changing plugs and plug wires.....seems I got 2 and 3 mixed up on the dizzy. Might want to double-check your wires and firing order on the dizzy.

i bought a cap/rotor and a timing light today and i got the ignition timing dead on. It runs a little better but its still sluggish.

The cap didnt include a spring...the spring is made onto the coil so i used a spare spring i had and jerry rigged it to fit...

would not having that spring for awhile make the coil go bad to the point where it causes me to lose power?

Where is it sluggish? Are you sure the cam gear is set at zero? Try maybe retarding the cam gear a little bit, like 3 or 4 degrees. Then set ignition timing to like 17 or 18 degrees. Lemme know how that does.
