Default AVCR VS AEM with GM boost solenoid

I have been running the AVCR for the last 2.5 years and running AEM for my EMS. I am redoing my entire setup and looking to make some sick power. Some people have suggested that I ditch the AVCR and just run the GM boost solenoid with my AEM to help with traction issues. People that are running the GM BS with AEM how do you like it and would you recommend that over the AVCR.

The GM solenoid works very well if you can figure out all the settings for it. Also, AEM is coming out with a solenoid of their own that is just like the Apexi solenoid that supposedly is more accurate, but I have never used that one because is it quite pricey compared to the GM one. Give it a shot, if you get it set up properly, you'll never want to go back.

Well from what people have told me the AVCR works great if you know how to dial it in properly. I heard it can be pretty complex. I personally don't have any experience with it.

I run the GM solenoid with the AEM EMS. I don't see any reason why anyone would not want to use it. It works flawlessly and it seems to be a lot easier to setup than the AVCR. Why not use it? You basically got everything that a AVCR can do and it only cost like 40 bux to get it going. I just like the fact that I can do basically anything I want with it. The only feature I have yet to use is the low/hi boost switch setup. The speed dependant boost is more of my thing. I gotta say, I wouldn't know jack **** about the AEM EMS if it wasn't for Jason "JDOGG"

ditch the avcr and sell it. you'll end up with cash in pocket and a better controller

With AEM EMS you need to change the settings with the laptop and all that "stuff". AVCR you can adjust any time with no tools. There is some advantage to that. Other than that, i doubt one functions significantly better than the other.

this is what i found on the apex-i solenoid

Apexi Boost Controller Solenoids For all APEX Boost Controllers. This will also work with the AEM ECU. If you use this with the AEM ECU, set the frequency to 30Hz in the AEM. Run the Red wire to ignition power. Run the black wire to pin E9-60 (for 93-98 Supra) on the AEM. On the boost control solenoid itself, if you're using an external wastegate, run the COM side to the TOP port on the wastegate. Run the NC port to the Side port on the wastegate and T off this line and run it into the IC pipe right after the turbo.

so if u run aem ems, with a gm boost solenoid, the aem can act as a speed activated boost controller?

yes and you can still have a high/low boost switch

so, on the street you can set a vss based ramp up to a set pressure on low boost, then at the track you can have the same ramp but go up to a higher level on high boost, it is great.

Not true. I ran 31lbs with AEM EMS on a GT35R powered GSX.

you can ramp up as steep or as flat as you like. ex 15=5psi 20=7 25=9 30=11 35=13 40=15 etc.
