vtec troubleshooting question
Yo, im trying to help out my brother with his 93 teg with a b16 sir2 swap. The vtec doesnt seem to be engaging at all and i was wondering if anyone knows how to check to see if its the solenoid. Does anyone know what the voltages should be and/or how else you could check to see if the solenoid needs to be replaced. I see three wires from the solenoid, a ground and two wires that run to the ECU. I rewired those and soldered them on for a better connection. I am assuming that the vtec isnt working at all cause the previous owner said that one day it just cut out when he was driving (recently). When i accelerate, there seems to be no change in rpm acceleration when i would expect for it to. Thanks
any CELs?
you can check the solenoid by giving it 12v and listening for a click; you can also hook up a vtec light to see if there is actual power getting to the solenoid.
so what vtec stopped working or..

no cels at all, but there really is no kick in like i have seen in many other cars with similar or better setups. I will try the 12v thing. So if i hear the click, i should assume that its working properly?
