I know this is kind of a noob question but i need to know... i wnat to swap a b16 form a 99 si into a 96 civic... what kind of wiring problems do i have to look out for. i have a complete engine harness and ecu. what else do i need?

 

If you have the harness for your car and the correct dohc vtec ecu for you year car(it will be obd2 but i don't know the difference between obd2a and b), you will be good to go with maybe a little wiring needed. If you have an ex civic that will make it even easy and you can just plug and play(except knock i believe you will have to add), but if not you need to wire vtec and knock unless you get your sohc vtec ecu chipped for dohc (thus taking out the knock). And perhaps some other obd2 things, i am not to familar with obd2 as i have mostly dealt with obd1.

 

The easiest way to go is to get a 96 to 98 Civic EX harness, get a obd2a to obd1 jumper harness, and use a chipped p28 ecu. The ex harness will work on the b16, and if you use a p28 ecu you wont need to rewire anything. Just plug it up. There may be a couple plugs left over, like the crank fluctuation sensor,which is the plug near the crank pulley, but the p28 doesnt look for it so you donet need to rewire that plug. I dont have emissions here in SC, so you may not be able to do it this way, but its the easiest.
