im an idiot(Timing help)
I took off my distributor without marking which way the rotor was facing long stort short I need to make it so my engine no1 cylinder is a tdc how exactly do I verify that? or get it to where I need it.
Easiest trick to find TDC is to:
1. Pull your plugs
2. Use a long extension and place it carefully on top of the #1 piston
3. Rotate the crank until the extension reaches its TDC (you can visually check TDC by looking at the change in height of the extension as you rotate the crank.)
Should only take a couple minutes.

an even easier way is to rotate the crank pulley 'til the white mark lines up with the little notch sticking out of the timing belt cover
btw the dizzy only fits one way into the intake cam slot anyway..

but the easiest way would be to rotate the crank til the tdc mark lines up then pull the dizzy cap and make sure the rotor button is pointed to the bottom left point and you will have the dizzy right where it should be

^^ This is true, but believe it or not, some brilliant, persistant people have actually managed to get it on the wrong way. Hard to believe. If you look at the distributer, you'll notice that tabs are slightly off center - so it should only fit in one way in the cam.
