Default what is a good starter engine for my 98 civic hatch that is easy to install??? thx everybody.

what would be a good engine to upgrade from my d16y7(stock engine) in my civic cx 1998. im kind of inexperienced so i DONT want to be the fastest on the road. an engine that would be easy to install as well. i was thinkin the b16a or maybe a lower version of a b18?? considering how much my car ways i would think those engines would push my car pretty good. by the way doing an engine swap, im guessing i would have to get a clutch, new comp, what else???? thx everybody

with pretty much any B swap youll need the complete motor, tranny, axles, ecu, shift linkage, and mounts in certain cases....it all depends on your budget when choosing which swap you want...

cheapest and easiest to do would probably be a d16y8 seeing as you can reuse most of your old parts, or make it even easier and just swap the heads.

if you really want to go B, a b18b will be fairly inexpensive compared to the vtec motors, plus you'll have a nice motor to boost if you get the urge for a little more power. although, as stated, it takes a few more parts to get it running.

what the hell would the point be in swapping in a y8? Go with a b18c1 and leave it as is for a while, more then enough for now and plenty of potential for later

i have a d16y7. i think im going to start looking for a b16 package and or a b18c1. b18c5's are pretty rare. i was going to do a h22a but i hear its like impossible to install in my car almost.
