Default 98 Civic Hatch Engine Questions

Ok, I have a manual 98 Civic Hatch. All I want is for the car to go faster. It's got the stock engine in there and I haven't done anything to it. I just want to know if there's anyone in the TN area that I can just drop the car off to and have them order and install the engine, preferably a business. I'm in Nashville.

Find a shop that will drop the engine, and then order one from http://www.hmotorsonline.com. I suggest you go with a b-series if you don't want to spend a lot of money. But if you can, K20 . If you went K-Series I would be jealous. But if you drop a B16/18 it wouldn't be that expensive, and you would still get a lot more power than your stock engine.

Try this link out:

Good luck man

EDIT: Make sure when you order the engine, have it shipped to the shop you want it dropped at. OH! and don't forget to tell the shop it's coming, My buddy ordered one, had it shipped there and when it got there the shop rejected it saying they didn't order it.

And how about that H22a? Its only 2 grand. Any reason to go with a B16 over that? And will I need that LSD tranny to go with it?

The engine is only 2 grand. Labour and other parts will damage your wallet. Don't look at an h22a swap as economical.

Ok, I've decided on the B16A SiR II. Will I need that hydro to cable conversion? Also, whats a reasonable price that I should expect to pay for installation? I have about 3 grand to work with. If things get messy, I have 2 more grand to put in but I'm really not wanting to do that. I worked hard for that army re-enlistment bonus.

Get a First Gen B16 (SIRI) it has a cable clutch. the whole swap will cost about 3K. H22's are ****, and I believe are harder to install in a hatch.

EDIT: and by 3K for the whole swap, I mean Engine, tranny, etc. (all parts) and the labor will be $3,000. So if you 3 K for the engine, and the labor to install it your Good to go .

why should he get a cable clutch??? just get a b16 swap from a 99-00 si...it will bolt right in and you will have t to re-wire a few things. make sure you get a tranny with a hydrolic clutch so you wont need a kit to install it. kits are expensicve and if your not doing the work yourself it will cost extra to put a cable tranny in there. plus you would need a custom mount or 2 to make it work properly.
