I had this same damn problem. Is this a stock motor? If so, the knock sensor sits right above the oil filter. Make sure its not broken, and the wires arent cut or frayed. If thats all good, then the sensor may just be bad. Do you hear it knocking? Pull your sparkplugs and make sure they dont look like detonation. My problem was the Sensor itself was broke in half. Not sure how but thats what it was.
What does detonation look like on spark plugs? I had a spark plug grommet thing on the valve cover leaking... i have been trying to get all the oil out of there, but there's still a small amount in there... could that have anything to do with it?
Anyone know if a KS from a H22 will work? It's the same plug and same thread... will it read the same... is there a difference in KS from obd1 to obd2?
i am throwing the same code. when i asked my friend what it was he told me that the in- dash wiring harness needed to be wired differently to go with the engine harness. i have no idea how to do this and was wondering if i could get some insight on how to wire it up correctly.

code 23 does not indicate knocking so there is no need to check the plugs. All this code means is that your knock sensor is bad or the wiring from the sensor to the ecu is bad.

All you have to do is run a single wire from the sensor to the proper location in the ecu. Look up the ecu pinout for your ecu and find out where the knock sensor output goes.
