My car is really acting up and its is f****** me up. IT started just about a month ago. My car keeps backfireing into the intake when i accelerate in an low gear. Its a loud pop, I made sure by lifting the hood. I have replaced the spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, and cleaning the trottle plate and manifold, did a valve adjustment, and the problem is still there. Is there something i am missing? Please help me, i need to take a trip soon.

 

do a compression test and make sure that all of your valves are closing when they should

How many miles and what year and trim on the car

 

Its a 92 LX, the motor has around 110 thou. how much is a descent tester?

 

Has the Engine set a code or turned the "Check Engine" Lamp on?
Usually, backfires occur in two forms
Intake
Exhaust
Intake is usually caused either overly advanced ignition or a lean fuel mixture
Exhaust is usually caused from an Ignition interruption.

I've done a Google search for any definitive answers for you for the last 15min to no avail for any definitive pointers. I'll keep looking

 

Thanks for looking for me. My friend has gone through the exhaust backfiring, because you can hear it throught the cat. the engine has not come on at all. i might have to check the light and see if it is working properly. I'll probably go to Honda to see if the gas distribution is right.

 

Both BMW and Volvo both have had tip-in backfire problems fron TPS issues, but I can not confirm this on Honda's. Most all EFI systems today are based on the original Bosch System developed years ago (with minor variations). It may very well be a TPS issue, but until I can put my finger on an existing advisory or discussion, I hesitate saying anyting yet.

i dont have a timing gun to do that. and honda wants to charge me 100 bucks to do that.
