low rpms...need help
i've been having problems with very low idol rpm's for about 3 weeks. it idols at about 200-300rpms when the engine is warm. i just changed the spark plugs, cap, rotor, and pcv valve and its still idoling at very low rpms. i will be getting a new fuel filter, plug wires, and aem sri installed soon so that might help a little. when the car was idoling, me and my dad heard a kind of popping sound coming out of the exhaust, he thinks it might have something to do with the timing. if after the fuel filter and intake are installed and it still idols very low, we'll probably take it to the dealer and see what they say. im also going to check my exhaust piping and everything to make sure its all nice and tight and there no leeks. if any of you might know what could be causing this, please let me know or maybe give me some tips on what to look for.
thanks i really appreciate it.
sorry if this is in the wrong section, im not really to familiar with this forum.

are you using the stock Tach to go by? and what year car do u have.
if its a 92 -95 your idle is FINE, its actually 700 -800
because the lowest line before 0 on the stock tach is 500.
it goes like this
0 rpms, a tiny line above 0 is 500 rpms your, the next line is 1 for 1000 (you knew that)
so yours is probably just above the little line above 0, which is running you around 700
but if you really wanna bring ur idle up, let the car warm up to where the fan kicks on, then on top of the IM there is a skrew, turn it until your idle is where you want it. but i suggest not messing with it

yes im using the stock tach. and i have a 95 ex. sometimes it idols right on the small line that ur talking about and sometimes its just under it. it sounds like the car is about to stall but dosnt. is it safe to run that low rpm? my main concern is hurting the engine and having even bigger problems later on.
thanks for the info. tho.

if it is right on that line, i would raise the idle a little with the idle adjust skrew.
if you go below that line your engine will most likely stall out or come realllly close.
as i said, look right on top of the TB and you will see a skrew, use a flat head and turn it, one way will raise idle and the other will lower it, i think if you turn it left it raises it but not 100% sure.
