Default Wiring a vss to 98 itr cluster

I cant get this dam speedo to work at all. I have tried all possabities except a new cluster. How can I test the cluster? I wired it right. I tapped the power from the ecu fuse, I grounded it to the negative battery side, Signal is going to the speedo on the cluster and it is apliced and runs to b16 on the ecu. obd0. Please help

im just throwing out ideas, but when i think of grounding, i think ground to something metal, not the battery. i dont know if that is how the circuit is or not, but you may check out a wiring diagram to make sure.

do this next test at your own risk, its just an idea, but it should work, i have no idea if it will send too much current through the speedometer, so you may want to look into this before you do it:

for testing the speedo, you could try using a multimeter set to read resistance and just touch it to the wires in and out, and see if the needle jumps. if it doesnt, then you might have a dead speedometer.

I first had it grounded to the t stat housing and then I thought that was bad so I know its got a good ground at the battery.

found the problem. I was wiring it power signal ground lik almoast all directions say and it goes looking at where the wires go into the plug and with the tab on top ground, power, signal

I am never bad at typing. I dont know what the hell that was, but I was saying that if you look at the plug and the snap is facing away from you it goes ground power signal.
