Default As some put it...YOU NEED A REAL CAGE....

Well, progress is going well!

only took 3 tubes to finally get the main hoop done!

This is the second cage i've worked on and by far MUCH easier than the first! have about 1/4 the time in this one and i'm all most done!

only gonna be a 6 point. really don't think those front 2 points coming off forward bars going to the firewall really help...they can always be added later.

I really don't see how this weld in is gonna protect me any better than the kirk bolt in!! would like comments on how and why it does!!

because you are going to go ahead and add those NASCAR bars and such that the Kirk doesnt have?

Tie the seat mount into the cage?

That should get you started.

Has anyone ever broken the mounts on a bolt-in? I'd be fairly interested to see the difference in yield points of the two.

If you build it as a copy of the bolt-in, then no, it really doesn't do a damned thing.

But if you make it 8 point (yes, it does matter... guess where the folding and bending stopped on my car when Renee hit the Road Atlanta wall?), add NASCAR door bars, and triangulate the **** out of it... Well, if you can't tell the difference then... Whatever.

Don't cheap out chad, do it right, and stop complaining you know the difference it makes. You clearly saw it in my car, not to mention the door bars difference between the BASIC kirk bolt in you had and real door bars whether they are nascar bars or not.

The best thing I ever did was get a true weld in cage done on my car.. Chad, you won't notice it much until someone T-bones you in the door at 120mph..

Yep, best money I spent on it was the cage.

here is the funktion address
44264 Mercure Cir. #140, Dulles VA 20166
i'm guessing piper is suite #160 or #180 or something.
http://www.funktionauto.com/

Piper is right next to it . when you go down Mercure Cir you will see PIPER MOTORSPORTS on the front of the building. i don't think there is a Funktion sign yet.
it's in the big industrial complex area off OLD OX rd. a mile or two after you cross over the Greenway/TollRoad bridge.
