FOUND: EGR valve-->the cause of hesitation, bogging, rough idle, idle surge and misfiring!!
I had my 92 prelude's valves adjusted and cam seals installed and it was running great after that. Then the next day the CEL comes on, I check the code and its a code 12 EGR valve is malfunctioning.
So I take off the valve, it looks like a dome shaped bowl on top of the intake manifold, and it turns out the valve was stuck open with a large build up of carbon around the plunger area. This was causing a misfire in my h23, a hesitation at low rpms, and a surging idle when warm and a bogging problem when I started it on cold mornings.
I cleaned the valve with carb cleaner and tried pushing the plunger down with my finger and it was much smoother and would go down (closed postion) all the way, insted of before when it was stuck open and could hardly move at all. After installing my newly cleaned EGR valve it got rid of ALL of my problems and I'll have to wait to see if it bogs at all in the morning. Everyone with the aformentioned problem should try this, it works wonders

Good info. I think I'll try this tomorrow; I've been having problems with it having really low idle sometimes, and I'll tap the gas pedal and the rpm's go up alittle, then shoot down to almost stalling.

yup mine did the same thing as well, I did the wax plug thing and cleaned out the mesh screen in the iacv before this as well, but it never really stopped my idle problems until I did this.

not hard at all, it is right on top of the intake mani. Its held on by two 12 mm bolts, soak them in wd-40 for a bit and use a thin ratchet extention to fit in there. Its really easy if you have the right basic tools, good luck.

here is a diagram from slhondaparts.com for a 4th gen it should be the same for all h23 and h22 motors.
the valve is number 18 and #19 is the gasket that goes under the valve, it looks just like an exhaust gasket, and its metal as well.
