Default F22b2 question

I am thinking about boosting soon and I would like to know what the SOHC F22b2 has. Some say F22's are good for boosting but there are just too many F22 motors. What kind of sleeves does it have and do you recommend new pistons or rods? Any help would be appreciated. Any suggestions on what i should get for turbo? because I am piecing it together. Thanks!

f22 is a good motor for boost, iron ductile sleeves mean that forged pistons can be droopped in without the need for resleeving.

i've seen f22's run 10psi daily on stock pistons and rods, anything more you're probably going to want to upgrade pistons and rods

t3 60 trim is the most efficient for the f22's, spools quickly, and won't run out of breath in the upper rpms like a smaller turbo would

Hey, thanks for the quick reply.
I understand rods are really expensive. Will it be safe to boost with just upgraded pistons. Do you know anyone that makes rods that are under 300? Thanks again!

Both th F22 varients have the good block when boosting. Both the B1 and B2 versions sport 8.8:1 compression ratio's; which is just about where you want to start for a base compression.
The Blocks are easily serviced if you should do something short of sending a rod thru the side. Score a piston or cylinder bore? you replace the sleeve and piston assembly. And dispite conventional wisdom (and some theories held elsewhere), the B2 version (non-Vtec) works better as a boost engine.
Vtec works great for a N/A engine; but the Vtec mechanism works against boost since it (By design) extends the valve event timing, thus allowing boost compression to blow past the still open exhaust, loosing some of the charge.
Any internal modifications will be determined by what level of boost and how it's tuned. I've known some to run stock internals at 8psi with particular attention being paid to heat control.

Thanks for the reply P,
So should i get pistons or rods. Or do I need them both. I was thinking about only getting the pistons because rods are just not in my budget.
If i get pistons do I need to do the compression test before turbo'ing, or if i get new rods and pistons do I need to?
Thanks alot for your help!

This is my thoughts about the turbo setup. Please feel free to give me some suggestions. Thanks for all you guy's help.

Turbo – T3/T4 60 trim (Garret or Turbonetics) - $500-$600
Intercooler and piping – $300-350
Wastegate – Tial 38mm. - $200
OBX Turbo Manifold – http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW - $250
Forged Pistons - http://www.dh-racing.com/pistons.html#forged - $395
Rods – Needed? Any suggestions on where to find them for a decent price?
Exhaust piping – 3” piping - $250 from http://www.kteller.com
Turbo exhaust tip – Skunk2 - $200
3” High flow cat – Magnaflow - $70
Bored 64mm. throttle body and intake port matching - $170 – http://www.maxbore.com
Down pipe – Any suggestions?
Tuning – Any suggestions? Do you guys think V-AFC will be a good tuner?

Estimated all parts – Close to $3000

Thanks for looking! Any suggestions would be appreciated greatly!

Of course there will be additional things which others will chime in with also, but these come immediately to mind:
High-flow Fuel Pump
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Next size larger Fuel Injectors

You have to make provisions for the additional fuel rquirements, a Map sensor which doesn't screw up under positive pressure and other things which escape me right now.

Forged pistons:
unless you're anticipating shaving the head or adjusting the deck height (both not recommended). Just select a Forged Piston which has a dome configuration for a compression of between 8.5:1 to 9.0:1
Rod & Main Bearings: CL77 (Clevite) bearings. I've had very good service from them.

here's my advice: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1540031

the map sensor only has to be replaced if the engine will be seeing over 10psi when engne managment
