Default 96 civic radio removal

ok i just bought a 96 civic ex and i want to take out the stock radio but i read that u need to keep the old on in the car due to the keyless entry is there any way around this? if so can some help me or tell me where i can put the old one so its out of the way and doesnt make a lot of noise in the car

You are correct. You can either buy a reverse harness and extend the wires and bury it behind the cupholders, or you can buy a "t" harness from scosche that will do the same thing... Check Scosche's website...

I will usually unscrew the face off the stock radio it makes it fit better behind the dash. Also that way the face doesnt get all scratched up so if you ever want to put the stock radio back in.

i have a 98. not sure if they work the same, but my wiring harness came with a plug that went on the security plug that bridged 2 contacts
