96 Civic Deck install
I recently bought a '96 civic ex with keyless entry and I want to put a new deck in it. I did some searching and found directions on http://www.installdr.com. It says to keep the keyless entry system working I must leave the stock deck installed and hide it behind the dash. For this it says I need a reverse wiring harness that plugs back into the honda deck and a regular wiring harness to plug into the wires on the vehicle. I did some searching but could only find a regular wiring harness and not the reverse wiring harness. Where can I aquire such wiring kits? And is there a way to avoid leaving the factory deck installed as well?

Best Buy has the reverse harness for $10. You can also get it at the dealer for $39.95. Some shops have a premade Y-adapter specifically for the Civic.
I don't recall there being a way around the factory deck, you can stuff it behind the cupholders/cig lighter. All you need to connect on that are the two power wires, ground and the illumination.

Circuit City has the harness. Metra 701720T.
When you install it pull the face off the radio and tape the space up so it will not get damaged during install
