Default My AEM air/fuel ratio gauge is fluttering too much

I had my UEGO gauge installed the other day, and it works but I think its "fluttering" around too much. For example, i'll be just idling, or even cruising at a set rpm and it will go all over the place. Any ideas?

I think the wiring is solid, but i may check the welds to see if its letting air in, or escape...any advice would be great, thanks.

are you sure you have a wideband sensor in there?? that sounds more like a narrow band

Yeah, im sure. It comes w/ the gauge--its the bosch sensor. It reads from about 10:1 to about 17:1...but it doesn't stay still on me.

well if you welded the wideband into a hole that coul dhave messed something up,

it sound smore like bad wiring, but make sure your using the same gronds and power sources for the wideband and the gauge.

ok, im going to check both...I actually didnt do the welding myself--im probably going to go over it w/ JB weld just to air tighten it. I'll double check the wiring too, thanks.

i like smores

haha....i would say that a wire is loose or wired incorrectly.....i dont think a small hole would matter that much

also, just to be sure, you guys didnt weld with the sensor screwed into the bung did you??

C'mon people... at cruising and closed loop operation the ECU will be compensating all the time to prevent a rich/lean situation. So you'll see the O2 sensor blink back and forth between rich and lean constantly. Only in closed loop or coasting (in gear no throttle) will you see consistant numbers.

dood wathever you do, please dont put jb weld on ur o2s bung. a small pin hole leak ther wont make the reading fluctuate that much.

are you running this on an open header? or full exhaust?

and how far does it bounce at idle or cruise?

My exhaust is a full exhaust, and I just passed emmisons so its good.

And when I idle (engine warmed up) it jumps anywhere between about 16:1 to 13.5:1 or so. However, when i accelerate, it stays just at about 12.8:1, or pretty close to that. But even when i cruise at a set RPM, it jumps around 12:1 to 16:1.

Do any of you have a wideband gauge that does this? Is it normal?
